PEA - more than a painkiller

Fed up with pain but also don't like the idea of regularly taking painkillers? You might be interested in learning more about palmitoylethanolamide (PEA).

PEA is a fatty acid molecule naturally found in the body and obtained from protein-rich foods such as egg yolk, soya bean and meat. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic. The molecule works by toning down overactive pain receptors into resting states over time so that it can be helpful for nerve and chronic pain.

Yes, it's excellent for migraine, but it also has other benefits!

1️⃣ Natural Pain Relief: PEA has shown great potential as a natural analgesic, helping alleviate various pain types. Whether it's chronic pain, neuropathic discomfort, or inflammation-related issues, PEA modulates the body's pain receptors, promoting a sense of relief and restoring comfort.

2️⃣ Enhanced Immune Function: PEA helps your body defend against external threats by supporting a healthy immune system response. Its anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce excessive immune reactions, promoting a balanced immune system and overall well-being.

3️⃣ Mood and Emotional Balance: PEA has been found to positively impact mood and emotional well-being. By boosting the levels of endocannabinoids in the brain, it supports a healthy mood and promotes a sense of calm and relaxation.

4️⃣ Neuroprotective Support: PEA is a powerful neuroprotectant, shielding nerve cells from damage and promoting their health. It can support cognitive function, memory, and overall brain health.

5️⃣ Healthy Joint Function: If you're looking to support joint health and mobility, PEA can be a game-changer. It helps to soothe inflammation and promote joint comfort, allowing you to stay active and enjoy life to the fullest.

6️⃣ Improved Sleep Quality: PEA has shown promise in promoting healthy sleep patterns. Reducing discomfort and balancing neurotransmitters can contribute to a restful night's sleep, leaving you refreshed and energised in the morning.

So, where can you find PEA? Ideally, you want to access a practitioner-only version available from your natural healthcare practitioner that is micronised or ultra-micronised to get results. (If you are looking for a naturopath, I invite you to reach out to me!)

In the clinic, I find PEA a valuable compound for migraine and other conditions. I've also noticed a few practitioner-only products becoming available which combine PEA with botanicals and nutritionals to great effect.

PEA is available for my clients upon prescription. I invite you to book a consultation and see if PEA could be a good solution for you.
